Welcome to the Art Room!
My name is Mrs. Cirjakovic and I will be your child's art teacher for the next 12 weeks. I am very excited about being a part of the teaching staff here at Lakeview Junior High.
During the first week of school, we explored the life and works of Henri Matisse. We focused on the colorful collages that he created near the end of his life. He described his technique as "drawing with scissors." With Matisse as an inspiration, the seventh graders began designing their own collages using the letters in their names as a focal point. These collages will also include symbols to represent personal interests and talents. Each letter and symbol will be created with colored paper and scissors--no pencil allowed! We will continue to work on these Matisse collages throughout next week. The early stages of this project are quite impressive.
